Data Center Advisory Committee update
Residents raised concerns about data center development, large language models, and a proposed facility with dozens of large diesel generators. The city is holding a virtual workshop and a council study session on data centers this week.
Fiscal Year 2026-27 City and Agency Budgets
The city's new budget spends about $3 million more than it takes in, and a 20-year forecast shows the general fund going negative if nothing changes. City Manager Darin Gale promised six months of 'surgical' service and revenue reviews, possibly including higher landscape/lighting assessments and unfilled vacancies.
Avaio Data Center Project (Perseus) at Former Delta View Golf Course
Three residents voiced strong opposition to data center projects, including the 300,000-square-foot hyperscale facility and a possible second data center on waterfront land zoned limited industrial. They raised water use, 47 diesel generators, noise and light pollution, health risks, and the effectiveness of public outreach, especially to non-English speakers.
